The fear that our kids are going to die young because of obesity is largely predicated on a steep rise in cases of type 2 diabetes, starting among children.

But Sandy Szwarc over at Junkfood Science argues that:

1. there has been no significant increase in rates of type 2 diabetes among children

2. type 2 diabetes is unusual (about 0.12 per cent of children get it)
